[ Review of 2003 ] [ Print ]
December 1st, 2003
Dear friends,
As the holidays arrive and 2003 draws to a close, we are prompted to
reflect upon the past and look forward to the future. This year, with
your support, we have responded to many calls and Challenges facing
the Serb people in homeland and abroad.
You have made a significant difference through your tremendous
support of the Serbian Unity Congress. And while much work remains,
we know that with the faith, hope and effort of us all, we will continue
to make the world a better place for the Serbian people, where the
Serbian name will be respected and handled with dignity.
This year alone, your support has brought some real results:
- The St Sava literary award had several thousand participants in
elementary and high schools throughout the Serbian lands.
Teaching our children moral values of our ancestors will have the
lasting effect on Serbian society.
- Our office in Washington DC opened with a primary goal of
public relations and anti-defamation for the Serbian Diaspora
and people. Being in the center of where decisions are being
made makes a difference, and we cannot afford to be absent
when decisions are made that will impact the future of Serbia
and the Serbian people.
- Our cultural efforts are concentrated on Kosovo, with a goal of
presenting the world our rich cultural heritage from the region.
Our BLAGO Fund team went to Gracanica and created a
complete archive of the Monastery. The New York Metropolitan
Museum will use some of it for its upcoming Byzantium
exhibition, and more efforts are on the way.
- San Francisco 2003 convention was one of the most
successful in our organization’s history. A rich program on
economy, national identity, cultural perspectives, made the
gathering a high spirited affair, and gave us new energy.
In 2003 we have maintained and expanded our partnership with other
Serbian organizations from US, Europe, Australia, and the homeland.
The Serbian American Congress is another demonstration that we can
work together with one united goal and vision.
Please remember that none of our work would be possible without the
continued support and generosity of people like you. Your gift today
will enable us to continue our mission and send a message of hope and
compassion, along with concrete assistance to the Serbian cause.
As you reflect on this year’s blessings and look toward next year, I
urge you to keep the Serbian Unity Congress in your prayers and
continue your support of our work by sending a contribution today.
Thank you for your faithful support. May you have a blessed holiday
season.
