Dear Friends,

It is my distinct pleasure to invite you to participate in the Serbian Unity Congress annual Serb Day on the Hill when many of our supporters come to Washington DC to visit the offices of their congressmen/women and senators. This will be our 4th such event.

Being Heard Nationally This year we are expanding our efforts to include visits to our representatives both in Washington and in their districts. The more of us who show in Washington on the same day the more of an effect Serb Voice can have. Not everyone can join us. You can also participate at home. Our Washington Office will be working with those of you who can’t come to Washington but want to join us and work at the district level.

2008 is a very special election year. The presidential campaigns have been unprecedented in the number of people and groups who have become activated and are working their constituent strengths to have their issues heard and represented. We have opened communication with the key presidential candidates.

They all need our votes. This is also going to be an exciting and competitive election year for members of Congress. Show them that they need to court ours. All the voices are in competition for attention. We ALL need to do the same with all candidates for the House and Senate.

OUR ISSUES = OUR VOTE This year again Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania are critical key states. This is where the Serbian American community is of a size that can influence who carries the state. If you are from states reasonably close, consider putting large groups together, charter a bus or car pool and come. We have issues of interest to us that we need to communicate.

• Full integration of Serbia into Europe;
• Kosovo –rights of Serbs and other minorities; protection of religious sites;
• Bosnia & Hercegovina, Dayton Agreement - safeguard Republika Srpska autonomy
• Croatia, Erdut Agreement – Serb refugees right to return and their rights to property

Participate and help us reach our goal to have hundreds of Serb Americans visit their respective representatives around the US. Here are the ways you can provide support:

• Sponsor a deserving Serbian American to attend
• Make a $200, $100, $75 contribution – any and all gifts are appreciated and are eligible as a tax-deduction.
• Consider recruiting fellow Church members or friends to pool funding designated to send select Serbian Youth to participate with us in Washington – contact the Serbian Unity Congress for information;
• Or, join our sponsorship program that recognizes you, your family or business in the Serbian American Day Event Program, acknowledgement on our website and in SUC publications.

All funds will be used to offset the cost of the event and print materials presented to members of Congress.
