We Present
A New Magazine For Diaspora And
Matica
A new high quality monthly magazine
called “Serbian Pulse”, began its life several months ago in Belgrade.
“Serbs above all wish to be connected among themselves”,
says Radivoje Peca Petrovic, founder of the “Serbian Pulse”, who has been a
journalist for over two decades at “Politika”, the oldest newspaper on Balkans.
In the last few years, he wrote numerous articles on Serbian life in diaspora.
Petrovic continues, “Our assignment is to unite Serbs through information.
Therefore, the magazine slogan “to be part of the global Serbia, read ‘Pulse’ “
is an attempt to offer our people, both in diaspora and homeland, a quality
Serbian publication, which features stories of interest for every generation and
level of education. We are trying to give readers of the “Pulse” a way to
communicate and be considered, based on three principles that informed
non-biased journalism can provide: reconciliation, tolerance and unity.”
After years of writing columns in “Politika” on “ movers and
shakers” in the diaspora, Petrovic decided it was time for an independent
magazine, which offered readers both in Serbia as well as diaspora more focus on
the stories of ideas and achievement rather than on attack and criticisms.
“Serbian Pulse” is put together in the small, but cute
offices in Hilandarska 4, Belgrade, next to the Radio Belgrade and “Politika”
offices, the place so called “Bermuda Triangle”, which became unavoidable
destination for all our people that visit Belgrade.
“We want “Pulse” becomes a place that our people from
diaspora wouldn’t want to miss when visiting the capital,” reveals Petrovic.
Pulse’s creative team consists of journalists from matica and the same number of
people all over diaspora. The man, whose idea started this project, emphasizes
that “the magazine cannot be made only in Belgrade.” For that reason a network
of correspondents was established in most large Serbian communities abroad.
“Without the help and solidarity of the diaspora people,
this project would have never made it. There are some problems that we
encountered from European and US media distributors, trying to keep intact
their monopoly by prohibiting Pulse distribution.
Our focus is Serbian national interests and Serbian survival
in these rough times. Church and family played crucial role in preserving
Serbian heritage and Serbian people from disappearing and blending in with
others. Therefore we dedicate much of our writing to these institutions as we
as questions on spirituality and preservation of our cultural and national
identity, stories of successful Serbs and their chosen fields, and of projects
which support unity amongst Serbs.”
The Pulse already published few articles from His Holiness
Patriarch Pavle, Prince Alexander Karadjordjevic, true leaders of the Serbian
diaspora Miroslav Djordjevic, Jasmina Vujic, Edita Krunic, Srdja Trifkovic,
Vlado Bjelopetrovic and many others, popular music stars like Corba, Bajaga,
Miroslav Ilic, Teofilovic Brothers and Biljana Krstic, successful athletes
Stojakovic, Dejan Stankovic, and Sanja Stolic.
At the same time, the new magazine is a great opportunity for
the business owners and managers of the Serbian descent, to start advertising
and communicating among themselves, creating a business network connecting
people from all over the world.
Presently, the “Serbian Pulse” can be bought in Germany,
Austria, Switzerland, Canada and few cities in the U.S.A., and currently we are
negotiating on the distribution for France, Sweden, Great Britain, and
Australia. It is possible to subscribe for this magazine through the following
