Kosovo & Metohija Today
With its thousands of sanctuaries and dozens of masterpiece medieval
monasteries, the province represents a true living monument to the
European Christian civilization.
Regrettably, many of these temples have now been destroyed, most others
languishing amid the deadly mix of blind hatred and uranium dust. Far
from resolving the province's extant problems, the international
occupation following NATO's 1999 aggression on Yugoslavia only brought
more. The great majority of Serbian and other loyalist population has
been expelled from their ancestral homes; scores have been killed,
thousands remain missing, as the rest barely survive in enclaves, their
simmering hope constantly threatened by the terror of Albanian
narco-mafia.
This is not the "new Europe" - it's simply not the way things are
supposed to be. Neither is it the way things must be. But for that, all
have to face their acts and the facts; the Serbian Unity Congress is
committed to making its honest contribution to that end.
