Economic forum under the name of “Strategy and policy of the economic
development in Serbia – suggestions to the new Government” was held on
January 22 at the Hyatt Hotel in Belgrade. The most eminent entrepreneurs
and economic experts from Serbia and Diaspora initiated action for the
revival of the economic activities in the country. The gathering offered some
concrete action which should directly influence the revival of the domestic
economy. They also presented strategic goals and directives for the
development of Serbia.
One of the speakers was Miroslav Djordjevic, president of the Board of the
Serbian Unity Congress who presented his views on Diaspora taking part in
economic development of Serbia. The keynote reports were also presented by
professor Svetozar Stojanovic, Ph.D., President of the Serbian-American
Center, and by entrepreneurs Zoran Drakulic and Nenad Popovic.
“In order that Serbia might draw in foreign investments both in capital and
experience and knowledge, it is necessary for entrepreneurs in homeland and
Diaspora, to restore mutual confidence which will bring profit to them all”,
said Mr. Djordjevic. He also called for establishing of the Ministry for
Diaspora under the administration of Diaspora, which was met with great
approval.
In the afternoon part of the program, there were several presentations of the
programs for development in different fields. Among them were the
presentations of Edita Krunic, vice-president of the Serbian Unity Congress
who introduced her program on tourism, Veselin Sjekloca, who presented his
program on infrastructure, Dragan Sataric from PIK Becej, who gave his ideas
on the development of the agricultural sector and Zorica Moskovljevic who
spoke of development of technology in Serbia, and many others.
Organizers of this Economic forum were Serbian-American Center and "United for Serbia - Homeland and Diaspora" , and reports from the Economic Forum will soon be presented on our web pages, and published at the Collection of papers which will be handed over to the newly-elected Government.
