VOJIN JOKSIMOVICH, S.U.C. PRESIDENT
Born (1936), raised and educated in Belgrade. Father Serbian,
mother half-French. The only survivor of a bombing raid during
German occupation of Yugoslavia which killed seven family
members. The grandson of Dragic Joksimovic, attorney who
defended Draza Mihailovic. As a teen-ager, prolific sportsmen.
Track and field being his favorite. Three times champion of
Serbia, once champion of Yugoslavia, twice member of the
Yugoslav national team. Upon graduation discriminated against
for employment in former Yugoslavia. Emigrated from Yugoslavia
to Great Britain in 1965. Met his second wife Nada in London.
They emigrated to the US in 1970 and became US citizens in 1976.
Daughter Natasa from the first marriage. Two grandsons.
Graduated from Belgrade University in Electrical Engineering in
1961. Received Ph.D in Nuclear Engineering from Imperial College
of London University in 1970. Specialty safety of nuclear power
plants. Considered a leading nuclear safety expert for
integration of the four nuclear safety imperatives or 4 M's:
machine, milieux, man and management. Written over 125 papers
presented at various international conferences. Worked for
large companies like Westinghouse. Formed own consulting
company, Accident Prevention Group, in 1988. While provided most
of its consulting services in the US, assisted nuclear
organizations in 10 Western European Countries, 6 Eastern
European and 4 in Asia.
A Republican since becoming a US citizen. Received the
Presidential Order of Merit by President Bush in recognition of
patriotic loyalty and dedication of service to the President,
the Republican Party and the United States of America.
Introduced to the Serbian politics in diaspora by Dr. Maglich
and Miroslav Djordjevich. Joined SUC in 1990. Director of
Anti-Sanctions Committee. Vice President and member of the
Executive Committee. Project Manager of Assistance of Republika
Srpska Project. Worked closely with several members of the
Congress on Serbian issues. Published 42 articles and numerous
letters to the editor primarily in the papers of Southern
California. Delivered many talks on the tragic civil war in the
native country. Spoke at a UN conference. Appeared on several
radio talk shows. Participated in seven debates with Croatian
and Muslim opponents. Recently, together with David Binder,
successfully debated the Bosnian UN Ambassador Sacirbey before
the Orange County World Affairs Council.
